Well, the answer is simple really. I love animals. They are my passion. Also, it seems like no one else is fighting for them so I will, (I can't help it-I like to stick up for the underDOG).
Animals can feel pain just like we do. Even fish! Check out the below link for all the info. But basically nociceptors (nerves that specifically send messages to the brain when there is the presence of pain) are present in fish so they indeed feel pain.
Now I'm not a sadist, so when I know someone is in pain I want to help them. Animals feel pain like us, but the difference is most animals will mask their pain. This is so that predators will not detect that they are weak and target them. Think about it, if you were a lion and were hungry wouldn't you go for a weak gazelle that you could catch easily?
It is my personal belief that we should respect animals and at the very least minimize the pain and suffering they go through. After all, if you were in pain and someone could stop it, wouldn't you want their help? Animals cannot verbalize with us, so we must speak up for them. While you may not agree with me 100%, I implore you to have an open mind and listen.
